June 30th, 2008 · Comments

East Nashville, we hope you’re prepared for the upcropping of brand new (awesome) local businesses. When we talked to Ugly Mugs the other day, they let us know about Fresh Blends, a new juice bar located next door to their new space (1888 Eastland Ave). We gave Fresh Blends a call, and they graciously answered [...]

June 30th, 2008 · Comments

This one comes to us from debaird, who found this fun graffiti wall in Jack’s BBQ downtown during a trip to our fair city. We can only imagine what the stories are behind the names, but we think Bart is our favorite.
Photo Of The Day will be a recurring feature for Nashvillest as long you [...]

Good morning, Nashville. Over the weekend, singer Bobby Brown had a rough time of it while he was filming his new CMT reality show Outsider’s Inn in East Tennessee. Brown was involved in a minor car crash on Saturday and luckily made it out unscathed. We hadn’t heard about the show before, but apparently Brown [...]

Last Thursday at Happy Hour, we passed along a story from the Tennessean about Rep. Jim Cooper’s alleged trouble with the feds. It seems no one has the right story, but have no fear: Our favorite Scene-writer-turned-Cooper-spokesman John “Jim” Spragens is tirelessly patrolling the internet and setting the record straight one blog at a time. Sudekum Planetarium Grand Opening: Moon Walk, Anyone?

June 27th, 2008 · Comments

This weekend is the grand opening of the new Sudekum Planetarium at the Adventure Science Center, and it’s definitely something to brag about. The new Chiron star projector is the fourth of its kind, and the first outside of Japan. It projects 6.5 million stars (while the old planetarium’s projector could produce 2,500). We call [...]

We see tons of great pictures from the Nashville Zoo come through our pool, but this is the first time we’ve seen this little guy captured by craptasticphotog. He doesn’t seem real thrilled about having his picture taken, but we love the detail and sharp contrast of the bright green color against the tree.

Bright & Early: Riverfront Roller Coaster Edition

June 27th, 2008 · Comments

Good morning, Nashville. We all sort of scratched our heads when Metro decided to install this weird-looking piece of public art down by the riverfront last year. As it were, the Ghost Ballet for the East Bank Machineworks sculpture was one of the 45 pieces of public art recognized as outstanding by the group Americans [...]
