Great Moments In PR: Cooper Camp Bites Back

Last Thursday at Happy Hour, we passed along a story from the Tennessean about Rep. Jim Cooper’s alleged trouble with the feds. It seems no one has the right story, but have no fear: Our favorite Scene-writer-turned-Cooper-spokesman John “Jim” Spragens is tirelessly patrolling the internet and setting the record straight one blog at a time. Some lobbyist who was getting embarrassed by the House Oversight Committee makes a wild claim that Jim is under investigation… that doesn’t mean he is. I’m just saying…

U.S. Representative Jim Cooper is under investigation by the FBI for illegally accessing the website of the largest electric cooperative in the country. His spokesman calls the investigation “laughable,” but we think it’s safe to say that no one’s laughing about electricity these days. [Tennessean]
