- The always-in-the-news sculpture of (we’re told it somehow looks like) Nathan Bedford Forrest on I-65 was vandalized for the second time this year, this time being covered in pink paint. The statue is on private property, unlike the pair that made headlines last week in Memphis.

- You may have noticed it’s cold out there, which has metro homeless agencies in “overdrive” to keep people from freezing to death. They have set up a website at www.coldweathernashville.com to keep the public informed about plans.

- The Nashville Predators (22-9-5) defeated the St. Louis Blues (23-14-2) 2-1 to take over the lead in the Central Division. They return to action with a back-to-back division games against the Wild (19-15-3) Friday night in Minnesota and in Nashville Saturday night.
- An Army helicopter pilot from Fort Campbell came back to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s ICU to thank them for efforts to save his life about year ago. His Black Hawk helicopter crashed on base during a training exercise.
- We have learned that devoted fans of the show Nashville call themselves ‘Nashies’, which should be reason enough alone to cancel it and never speak of it again. The producers have saw fit to oblige with a two-part series finale set for January 4 and another in the summer of 2018.
- Two men in Madison say that they awoke Tuesday night to find their roommate coming at them with a machete. No word on what provoked him, but he has a prior conviction of attacking his ex-girlfriend with a paint scraper last year.

- There’s a pretty good chance you have met this ambitious musician and rideshare driver on one of her 1,100 trips if you have used Lyft between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. in the six months. That is a lot of trips!
- A local strip club donated several toys on Christmas Day by dropping them off at the courthouse with a note addressed to the mayor. It is important to note they were age-appropriate toys for children.
- Police officers in nearby Clarksville, Tennessee bought toys for a family whose home was burglarized on Christmas Eve while they were away.
