• Even though we mistakenly said that Project Homeless Connect was happening yesterday and no one bothered to correct us, it’s actually happening today. And by the looks of the Twitters, it’s going rather well! Thanks to all of the fine folks who put it together, along with the army of volunteers, the Key Alliance and Metro Homelessness Commission. • It’s a festival, with beer, in East Nashville! Count us in. [Tennessean]
• You can tweet all of your Tennessee-related IRS concerns/frustrations to @TaxDan this coming tax season, as he is the official IRS tweeter for our state and Alabama. He is essentially our cyber-shoulder to cry on when we’ve waited until 11pm on April 17th to do our taxes, so greet him accordingly. [WSMV]
• The Great Big Centennial Park Overhaul plans were unveiled yesterday and we are VERY UPSET to see that they do not include a roundabout containing more awesome nude public art. [WTVF]
• Folks with fuel-efficient cars are getting closer to having their own fancy, free(ish) parking privileges downtown after the Metro Council passed the ordinance on second reading last night. [WKRN]
• There is going to be a giant hotel where the old Tower Records used to be on West End. Nothing like the distant memory of trekking down to Tower at midnight in our PJs for album releases to make us feel very old this morning. [Nashville Post]
• Both TSU and Fisk were issued a warning by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools that they have one year to meet accreditation standards or they will lose their standing. This is especially bad news for Fisk, which has been teetering on the edge of bankruptcy for some time now. [Tennessean]
• The Metro Council is getting closer and closer to passing a law that would prevent people from constructing anything new on the floodplains. [Tennessean]
