- The Metro Council failed by one vote to adopt a substitute budget Tuesday night that would have levied a 15.8 percent property tax increase to boost teacher raises and other other public services, instead reverting to the budget proposed by mayor David Briley. The mayor had said he would veto any property tax increase that didn’t win the support of 27 council members.

- A man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly having sex with a prostitute in front of patrons at a downtown Nashville co-working space. ?
- A monument to Confederate soldiers in Centennial Park was vandalized some time before Monday morning, with the words “They Were Racists” spray painted over the list of names on the side of it. The monument was originally dedicated in 1909.
- Nashville’s health officials are working to “reduce or eliminate” non-health exemptions to vaccines, citing a national measles outbreak. Immunizations are from Metro Public Health Department. ?
- The building collapse last week of a boutique retailer in Hillsboro Village has also closed the adjoining Fido coffee shop because of structural concerns, prompting its owner to put up posters decrying the construction of a chain restaurant believed to have caused the collapse. The incoming restaurant, Ruby Sunshine, says they do not own the building nor were they overseeing construction.

- Facing a deadline from the mayor’s office, dockless scooter companies have begun rolling out safety proposals to prevent an outright ban of the devices on Nashville’s streets, including fleet limits and advocacy for bike lanes.
- Vanderbilt University’s baseball team picked up a 6-3 win over Mississippi State Wednesday afternoon in Omaha, Nebraska to move one win away from the College World Series Finals. They will face either a rematch with Mississippi State or the University of Louisville on Friday.
