- Flea market vendors at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds voiced their concerns to city leaders about the proposed MLS soccer stadium to be built there, displacing the current pavilions. The association representing the vendors allege the mayor’s office has turned its back on their livelihood.
- A group of immigrants from Haiti that moved following the deadly earthquakes in 2010 are suddenly worried about their future after DHS abruptly ended their Temporary Protected Status designation last week. They would have until July 2019 to leave the country.
- Police say they have arrested a man accused of seven Nashville-area bank robberies dating back to October 23. He was taken into custody without incident.
- One Bellevue Place, the replacement shopping center for the razed Bellevue Mall, welcomed its first Black Friday customers in spite of many of the stores missing their target opening date.
- A metro council member is wanting better guarantees that companies that receive incentives to relocate to Nashville use the local construction labor force as promised. If passed, the measure would force companies to pay back incentives if they fail to meet their end of the bargain.
- Shopkeepers in Mufreesboro hope that holiday shopping will offset their losses from having to shut down while various white supremacist groups held rallies in town. One business owner says she lost tens of thousands of dollars in revenue that weekend.
- Hunters Lane High School was awarded “best band” for their performance at a Thanksgiving parade in Detroit, Michigan. The marching band was unaware they were competing.
- Bonnaroo tickets went on sale this Friday for next June’s music festival in Manchester, Tennessee. The lineup will be announced early next year.
- The Tennessee Titans (7-4) picked up a crucial win Sunday in Indianapolis against the Colts (3-8) 16-20, a win that puts them back in first place in the AFC South. They host the Houston Texans (4-6) next Sunday in Nashville.
- The Nashville Predators (14-6-3) wrapped up their annual “fathers trip” with a win Friday night in St. Louis against the Blues (17-6-1) 2-0 and a shootout loss Sunday against the Carolina Hurricanes (10-8-4) 3-4. They host the Chicago Blackhawks (11-8-3) Tuesday in Nashville.
- The Vanderbilt football team closed off its season with a 42-24 win over the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, their second win over the Volunteers in as many seasons. Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason is said to be a potential candidate for Arizona State if that position becomes open.
- A Seattle man allegedly forgot 44 lbs. of marijuana in his luggage at the Nashville International Airport Tuesday, returning the next afternoon to the waiting arms of law enforcement. We’re guessing his Thanksgiving dinner guests are a little disappointed.
- And finally, a man in nearby LaVergne spotted an unusual item in a vintage store — a Purple Heart medal, given to soldiers wounded in combat. He used Facebook to locate the family of its owner and returned it to the soldier’s daughter.
