MTA Jingle Contest: It’s Ready To Roll! [Only In Nashville]

Nashville, hang on to your hats: A winner has been chosen for the Music City Central BIG GIG Jingle Contest (hey, it wasn’t called that when we originally wrote about it). Nashville musician Geoff Smith has penned and recorded the winning tune, and it’s a good time. Despite some cheesy lyrics, the jingle is actually really catchy, and we’re pretty glad Geoff won. Besides, it would be impossible to write a song about riding the bus without being just a little cheesy. Besides being a kickass jingle-writer, Geoff is also the keyboardist in Codaphonic, one of our favorite local acts. 92 would-be jingle-writers entered the contest (we’d give anything to hear the other 91).

Drumroll, please… Here’s the winning entry and lyrics:

Yeah you’ve had enough
Yeah the traffic’s tough
You keep pumping the gas
Yeah it’s rough

And it’s true that you care
You want some cleaner air
And a better way to get somewhere

When you get on the bus you make it better for Nashville
And that’s for all of us

It’s a brand new day
It’s a brand new way
So jump on and go your way
It’s the start of something new
It’s for me and you from the MTA

It’s a brand new day
It’s a brand new way
Come on Nashville, go your own way
It’s the start of something new
It’s for me and you from the MTA
