Dose Coffee & Tea Replaces Murphy Road Portland Brew [Nashville Newcomers]

Don’t be alarmed if you happen to be driving by when the Portland Brew sign at Murphy Road comes tumbling down – The coffee shop has indeed departed from the Portland Brew fold, but the caffeine isn’t going anywhere. New owners Heath Henley and Keith Steunebrink, both former employees of Portland Brew, have spiffed the place up with a new coat of paint, some shiny new lights, a modified seating arrangement and interior flow, and the new sign announcing the arrival of Dose Coffee & Tea will be installed this week.

In addition to a fresh face-scrubbing and the name change, the new/old coffee shop will keep offerings that Portland Brew fans have grown to love, and improve on the concept with a few tricks of their own. Look for a new lunch menu coming this month, and in the meantime, a bounty of fresh baked goods are pouring forth from co-tenant Marmellata Bakery. Dose will also begin roasting their own coffee at MST Coffee Roasters in the near future, and will have a variety of coffees from local, regional, national and potentially international roasters available on the shelves for purchase. Henley compares their plans for coffee offerings to that of a wine shop, but on a smaller scale.

Dose Coffee & Tea will initially retain Portland Brew’s hours of 7am-7pm Monday through Saturday, with plans to open on Sunday after renovations are completed in mid-to-late November. Follow the transformation on Facebook, or drop by and give Dose a shot for yourself.

Congrats to Heath and Keith for becoming Nashville's newest coffee hot spot! The changes are greatly welcomed and the new ownership is inspired, empowered, passionate, and is doing everything right.

Looking forward to seeing whats to come in the next couple months and to getting some work done over there on my days that I need to get out of the office.

This is great! That location felt neglected (overextended?) from the beginning, especially after they stopped making fresh lunches there. I'm looking forward to going there again.

Yeah, definitely interested to see what they come up with for lunch! Let us know what you think if you get there before we do.

I always wondered how well that Portland Brew location did. Hope Dose can make it work and I'll have to drop in and check it out sometime soon.

I have been going to the PB coffee shop awhile now. At first, I welcomed the changes, but the jury is still out. The service is not as friendly, prices of baked goods has gone up, and the coffee tastes watered down.
Hopefully, things will get better and the changes are not just show…. customers want substance.
