Good morning, Nashville. Starting today, all of the bus-riders among us will be feeling the effects of the rate hikes and route changes that came to us as a result of the city’s budget cuts. If you’re lucky enough not to be dependent upon one of the five routes that were cut, you’re looking at a 25-cent increase in regular bus fares or 50 cents if you use AccessRide, Metro’s service for the disabled. We’re thinking this is a good time to remind you of RTA’s Rideshare Program if you’re looking for other ways to soothe your commuting pain.
- Cheerleader’s house burgled. Titans cheerleader Laurie Huff had a surprise visit from some thugs on Sunday who broke into her house while she was in it. She called the cops, who arrived in time to catch the thieves red-handed. No word on whether it was random or if they actually targeted her.
- More roller coasters for downtown. Metro is working out some more public art to put in the Public Square downtown. We’re pretty excited about it as long as they can do a little better than the previous attempt. For what it’s worth, we think it sounds promising.
- Bits & pieces. Metro started seizing that one property with that one record label on Music Row … Police booked 72 people last weekend during their gang-focused Operation Safer Streets … VW set to make their decision about the new plant by next Tuesday, ‘nooga is still in the running … Southern Baptists are now listing the 10,000-ish ministers convicted or indicted for sexual abuse on their website … AAA says roads could be clearer than usual for Fourth of July weekend.
