- Mayor John Cooper reassured Metro Nashville Public Schools teachers that they will get the promised three percent raises in January despite a severe budget crunch for the city, thanks to some creative bookkeeping, but not the same kind that put the raises in peril in the first place. The raises are not guaranteed to be permanent in 2021.

- Bill Whitson, a familiar face through five decades in Metro government, died Friday night after a brief illness. Whitson was 90.
- Some Middle Tennessee Hospitals are doubling as food banks for their neediest patients, with administrators explaining nutrition is essential to the health care they provide. ?
- The Tennessee Titans (7-5) knocked off the Indianapolis Colts (6-6) Sunday afternoon 31-17 to keep their playoff hopes alive. They’ll face the Oakland Raiders (6-6) in a critical game on the road next Sunday.
- It’s been an up-and-down week for the Nashville Predators (12-10-4), giving up a tying goal with 0.3 on the clock against the Vegas Golden Knights (13-11-4) before losing in the shootout Wednesday, getting a convincing 3-0 win over the Carolina Hurricanes (16-10-1) on Friday, and then suffering a 3-0 loss against the Florida Panthers (13-8-5) Saturday. The team went 2-8-3 in November, so they hope to start December off better when they host the Tampa Bay Lighting (12-9-3) tomorrow night.
- Fellow police officers played a hockey game to honor John Anderson who was killed in the line of duty earlier this year. ?
- A sound baffling system has been installed at MACC, an improvement volunteers say will help reduce the animals’ anxiety and make pet adoptions easier in the quieter environment. The $15,000 system was paid for with donations.
