- At-large council member Erica Gilmore plans to introduce a resolution calling on Metro School Board member Jill Speering to apologize to director Shawn Joseph for suggesting that teachers wear masks to a school board meeting to conceal their identities and to express their disapproval with the director. Gilmore compares the request to the KKK, while Speering maintains that it has been blown out of proportion.
- A new task force has been formed to deal with gun-related vilence in Nashville. The new unit will focus on investigating whether a firearm is connected to multiple crimes.Don’t expect District Attorney Glenn Funk to follow his Baltimore counterpart’s lead on decriminalizing possession of marijuana, though he does say his office works to make sure that a charge does not “ruin someones life.”
- A local businessman really believes Nashville could support a Major League Baseball expansion franchise, despite the idea being shot down repeatedly in the past. ⚾️
- A massive proposed project could expand the overall footprint of Cummins Station downtown if it becomes a reality, complete with four high rise office tours and that much-maligned pedestrian bridge over the railroad tracks. The developer did not provide a timetable for when his plans could become a reality.

- The transition to locally-owned retail shops at Nashville International Airport will bring four (!) hot chicken restaurants to the concourse area, which sounds like a horrible idea before getting on an airplane. It will also bring other Nashville fixtures like Biscuit Love, Peg Leg Porker and ACME Feed & Seed.

The developer and neighborhood have been unable to agree on the future of the site, with the developer pressing forward with replacing the buildings.
- The Nashville MLS team will begin league play in 2020 with their home games at Nissan Stadium the team announced Thursday. The team will then move into its new home at the site of Fairgrounds Nashville the following season if everything goes according to plan. ⚽️
