- The Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency says it has accidentally erased the raw footage of the shooting of Daniel Hambrick last July by Metro Nashville Police officer Andrew Delke. A preliminary hearing in the murder trial is scheduled for January.
- The owner of Silo restaurant in Germantown is facing a federal discrimination lawsuit brought by a former employee who says she was fired for becoming pregnant twice over a two year period.
The suit also alleges harassment. - Somebody called in a bunch of bomb threats nationwide, with at least seven cases in Nashville, Thursday to attempt to extort the cryptocurrency Bitcoin from victims. No explosives were found.
- Ride-share company Lyft has applied to enter the dock-less scooter market in Nashville, prompting city leaders to propose a cap at four scooter companies allowed to operate in the city. A bit late for that now, isn’t it?
- The Nashville Fire Department wants you to be extra careful this holiday season when lighting up the Christmas tree. Namely, don’t plug in a bunch of stuff into a cheap extension cord. ?
- The People’s Alliance for Transit, Housing and Employment (PATHE) group took to the streets last week to protest the incentives offered by Metro to Amazon in order to attract their planned downtown hub. Among the concerns of protestors would be the displacement of poorer residents.
- Homeless advocacy groups say that 127 people have died in the last year on Nashville’s streets. A memorial service was held this weekend.
- Speaking of Amazon, Nashville was mentioned in the New York Times yesterday for it’s continued “It”-ness, particularly when compared with other southern cities. The head of the Nashville Chamber of Commerce credits the start of the city’s growth with its quick surrender during the Civil War. ?
- Hattie B’s hot chicken and Slim & Husky’s pizza are among the restaurants heading to the Fifth + Broadway development downtown when it opens mid-2020. Downtown dining should be interesting to watch.
- The Tennessee Titans (8-6) shut out the New York Giants (5-9) Sunday in the Meadowlands 17-0 to improve their playoff odds with two games remaining (WSH and IND). The Titans host the Washington … uh, yeah that team … (7-7) at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Nissan Stadium.
- The Nashville Predators (22-10-1) got back into the swing of things with a 4-3 overtime win over the Vancouver Canucks (15-16-4) Thursday at home followed by a 2-1 marathon shootout win over the New Jersey Devils (11-13-7) Saturday night at home where both opponents forced the extra time in the waning minutes of the third period. The team begins a four-game pre-Christmas road trip tonight in Ottawa against the Senators (14-16-4) and tomorrow night in Chicago against the Blackhawks (10-18-6).
