- Andrew Delke, the police officer who shot Daniel Hambrick in July, was charged with murder Thursday, a rare occurrence in cases in officer involved shootings. Prosecutors had been unable to secure an arrest warrant earlier in the day from a magistrate who said there was not enough evidence to support a case.
- Police have formally charged two men for the murder of two patrons outside of the Cobra bar in East Nashville and charged a third for using the stolen credit cards of the victims. The victims were outside the bar when they were approached and shot after telling the assailants they did not have money.

- The Tennessee Supreme Court declined to take up emergency consideration of a lawsuit filed by the Fraternal Order of Police to prevent the community oversight board referendum from appearing on the November ballot, saying that such action must move through the regular channels. The union says it will actively campaign against the referendum, and that the results would be tossed out should they prevail in their argument that the referendum petition did not have enough signatures.
- While good fences are said to make good neighbors, one Mt. Juliet business owner says the one his neighbor is building will cost him thousands of dollars in business because it obstructs the view of his storefront from the road. The man admits its the fence is being installed legally, but wants to keep his car repair business going.
- News Channel 5 meteorologist Lelan Statom received an interesting honor in celebration of his 25 years with the station: his likeness in a corn maze. ?
- The Tennessee Titans (3-1) knocked off the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles (2-2) 26-23 in overtime at Nissan Stadium Sunday. The Titans travel to Buffalo to face the Bills (1-3) next Sunday.
- A Tennessee Statue University linebacker is recovering from a serious injury in the Vanderbilt game this Saturday in which the Commodores (2-2) came out on top 31-27 in a near-upset. The player remains in critical condition at the medical center on campus.
- A music education startup has purchased two existing houses on Music Row for $3.6 million, occupying five total, and does not plan to tear them down for a change. See, not everything ends in a bulldozer over there.
- Crema Coffee will be relocating its roasting operations to East Nashville off Trinity Lane, and will have a small “take and go” area to order brewed coffee. The existing Hermitage Avenue location will expand its educational space. ☕️
- The Opry City Stage restaurant in Times Square has closed after less than a year in business after posting disappointing results. The restaurant was run by Ryman Hospitality based here in Nashville.
- An annual report from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has moved Nashville’s VA hospital off its list of lowest performing, citing a turnaround in operations. The VA system nationwide has struggled with long wait times and administrative backlogs.
- A Charlotte Pike man happened to be home and spotted a woman steal two $50 lanterns off his front porch in broad daylight and chased after her as she drove away. We also learned the phrase “porch pirates” is in heavy rotation around Nashville.
- An 85-year-old woman was forced out of her apartment building in Buena Vista Heights, an area she has lived her entire life, after a developer purchased the building and terminated her lease. Her story caught the attention of another landlord that is offering her a deal on rent.
- The Nashville Predators wrapped up their pre-season with a 5-4 overtime win of their own over the Carolina Hurricanes, after dropping a rough 4-1 game at home Tuesday. None of that matters now, with the roster set to open up the regular season on the road against the New York Rangers this Thursday.
- While we tend to skip the minor league sports, it’s worth noting that Nashville SC (the franchise that will eventually join the MLS) is in a tight race for the final playoff spot in their group with three games remaining in their inaugural season. FiveThirtyEight has the team at 77% odds to make the playoffs.
- One player not on that roster is prospect Eeli Tolvanen, who the team hopes to will remain with their minor league to develop rather than returning to the KHL. He will face a similar choice as the one Filip Forsberg did a few years ago — and things worked out great for Fil.

- Hume-Fogg High School in downtown Nashville has registered every eligible student that attends the school to vote in the November election. The students held a celebratory lunch for the milestone.
