Good morning, Nashville. As of April 30th, you’ll be happy to know that airlines won’t be able to leave you on the tarmac for more than three hours anymore. The folks at BNA are “planning for and making accommodations for” this new law to go into effect, and though we’re not sure which accommodations one would make for not stranding passengers on the runway for three hours, they assure us that they’re ready.
- Preds to the playoffs. The Preds head to Chicago tonight for Game 1 of the NHL playoffs and City Paper has a breakdown of the match-up. Though it looks like Chicago has a slight edge (and, well, there’s that whole thing about the Preds never winning an playoff game that wasn’t at home), we will be cheering our hearts out at the Nashvillest HQ.
- Weekend I-440 closures, again. Westbound I-440 will be closed this weekend, but only during daylight hours. We hope this means that they’re paving it finally. And you can count on some numerous unannounced almost-closures, so it’s probably best to avoid it all weekend regardless of the time of day.
- Bits & pieces. Today is the last day to mail in your census form if you haven’t done so already … Bela Fleck will be performing at the Earth Day festival on Saturday at Centennial Park … One of the white supremacist guys behind the Tennessee-grown plot to kill Obama was sentenced to 10 years in prison … Our neighbors in Memphis are looking forward to a “massive redevelopment” of Graceland.
