• A newly formed committee seeks to repair the neglect of the 37208 zip code in North Nashville, recently highlighted as having the country’s highest incarceration rate. One in seven people born there between 1980 and 1986 have been jailed at least once.
• The now-former staff of downtown bar Alley Taps say they were all fired from their job mid-shift when the new owners walked in with new staff. The manager estimates more than 100 contract workers are scrambling for new jobs.

• Nashville police arrested a man Friday for allegedly attempting to run over a detective to get away, along with drug possession charges.

• East Nashville community members say that a veteran’s monument on Riverside Drive was destroyed by a speeding car Friday night.
• Skyscraper builder Tony Giarratana has released his plans for a revamped Elliston Place Soda Shop to be build next door to the original location and feature a 1950s interior design. Giarratana says he has been a loyal customer for years.
• The Nashville Predators (22-18-7) will face the trade deadline in a little under a month as they sit last in the division, so the team’s next few games will be critical in deciding whether they will be buyers or sellers at the deadline. The Preds return from the All-Star break to host the Toronto Maple Leafs (25-17-7) tonight before traveling to Washington to play Capitals (33-11-5) Wednesday.
