Good morning, Nashville. In honor of CRS this week, we point you to a new study by the Country Music Association that aimed to find out exactly what kinds of folks are listening to country music. Ultimately they discovered that although predominanly female and rural, it’s a pretty diverse group spanning many ages and income brackets. However, they also figured out that their audience is mostly white, which has predictably set off a firestorm of comments on the Tennessean article that will probably provide at least a few hours of entertainment for this dreary-looking Friday morning. TGIF!
- It’s official. The Metro Health Board is requiring local restaurants to display calorie information on menus in Davidson County. Though it’s slated to happen by March 31, 2010, a federal bill going through Congress could move the deadline up by a few months if it passes.
- “Haven for crime.” The Grey Hound bus station, which is being forced to move for the construction of the new convention center downtown, has been rejected from the new location it was targeting on Murfreesboro Road. Businesses and residents in the area expressed fears that crime would go up (can’t imagine why!) if the station were allowed in, citing the large amount of “incidents” that have taken place at the current station over the last five years.
- Bits & pieces. If Metro Schools are needing a bailout, look no further than the Country Music Association … State Sen. Tim Burchett loves the TVA this much … So construction crews found some dynamite by I-40 around the airport, but it did not explode, and they do not know how it got there? Great! … The Preds won again, and they’re in sixth place now–the highest they’ve been all season.
