Good morning, Nashville. We have to admit we don’t know a whole lot about football (except that we’re supposed to bleed two-tone blue around here) but we hear it’s a big day for the NFL. Free agency is finally here, which means that changes are in store for the Titans beginning with one pretty big one: Albert “Speedy” Haynesworth is now a Redskin. To the tune of $100 million. So sayonara, Albert–as much as we’ve enjoyed your time here, we wish you the best and may you truly enjoy zipping around the streets of DC with your newfound pile of dough. For more free agency updates throughout the day, check out the NFL blog.
- Fun-suckers. We won’t lie… we’ve always felt that one of life’s greatest joys is munching on some peanuts at Logan’s Roadhouse and carelessly tossing the shells all over the floor. But after one woman slipped on a peanut shell and sued, the Tennessee Court of Appeals may decide it’s too dangerous.
- Will it blend? A bill was filed yesterday in the legislature that would merge the University of Tennessee with the Tennessee Board of Regents college system, which could apparently save everyone a whole lot of money.
- Bits & pieces. The Nashville chapter of the NAACP was one of many branches across the country to protest a racist-ish comic about President Obama that ran in the New York Post … Davidson County Sheriff Daron Hall says he’s totally okay with the new DHS secretary reviewing the 287(g) program … A Floridian German shepherd named “Astro” that ran away 9 years ago turned up in Tennessee and was happily reunited with his humans … Here’s a list of the proposed UT job cuts.
