- The special election for mayor has been set for August, but there is a lot of debate on whether that is actually the correct action per the Metro Charter instead of May. As of today, the election will be August 2.
- Mayor David Briley has confirmed that he will run in the special election after receiving by the backing of a group of business leaders that said in a statement that Nashville should avoid having four different mayors in under two years. Council member Erica Gilmore has also signaled her intention to run, with other candidates expected.
- The teenagers responsible for vandalism at a Murfreesboro mosque last summer have returned to the congregation to ask for forgiveness. Community members say it is the first step towards healing.
- There have been fake towing stickers placed on people’s car in the Hillsboro neighborhood in an attempt to dissuade people from parking in certain areas. The stickers are not from Public Works, and are likely a resident’s attempt to run off tourists.

- A lot of people have been calling about snakes in their yards following the unseasonably warm weather we had (well, right up until the snow last night). If you see one, experts say to call animal control immediately for help relocating it.
- The Tennessee Titans under new coach Mike Vrabel have been making several personnel changes, including the release of running back DeMarco Murray and three other players in the last week. The upcoming football schedule is expected to be released next month.
- The Nashville Predators (44-14-10) saw their franchise-record winning streak extend to 10 games with a 2-4 win Thursday over the Anaheim Ducks (34-23-12), but were unable to keep it going in a 3-2 shootout loss Saturday to the New Jersey Devils (35-26-8). The team closes out the home-stand tomorrow night with a important division game against the Winnipeg Jets (41-18-9).
- If you follow prediction site Sports Club Stats, the Predators are favored to make the playoffs (99.9999%), win the Central Division (75%) and remain in the hunt for the best overall regular season record (24%). Should make for a fun end to the regular season and into the playoffs.
- An electrical fire damaged a popular barbecue restaurant in West Nashville, and the owners have worked with the community to take care of their displaced workers. Around $33,000 has been raised.
