Good morning, Nashville. Today’s the big day for the Music City Bowl! Although Vandy is still a little bummed out that they didn’t actually get to GO anywhere to play in a bowl, we’re totally excited that they’re staying home this year. We understand there’s a lot at stake this year–If they win, they’ll break a 25-year streak of losing seasons. Some folks seem to be under the impression that Boston College scares them or that they are somehow overwhelmed. Well, we’ve got news for you: We at Nashvillest aren’t drinking the Haterade. We know Vandy’s got this one in the tank. Oh, and the Woodland Street Bridge is shutting down at 12pm today and won’t open until fans have cleared out. So you may want to check Metro’s traffic advisory before you go anywhere near the stadium.
- Disaster tourism. Governor Phil is heading out to Kingston today to wander around the TVA’s ashy toxic sludge mess. During his visit, he’ll be chatting with local officials about the clean-up effort and taking a casual stroll through the mess. We just hope he doesn’t drink the water. [via Post Politics]
- Generosity at its finest. Speaking of the TVA, they’ve decided that they don’t want to flood Shelbyville which we guess is good. They’ve decided to start letting water out of the reservoir because they think it could overflow since it’s pretty much been monsooning for a month.
- Bits & pieces. T’s Tuscan Bar & Grill is gone forever since the scandal-ridden Tangredis were terminated from their lease … The Tennessean remembers some of the local stars who passed away this year … Now’s a great time to quit smoking, and Tennessee wants to help!
