- A man allegedly tried to break into an unmarked police car in Germantown Saturday while a detective was sitting in the driver’s seat. He was later arrested.
- “All the Californians are moving here” may seem cliche, but a Los Angeles anchor told WKRN that there is some truth to it. He says that the 2012 Presidential election was the start of an exodus from the Golden State.
- Trash service disruptions continue to be an issue in South Nashville as the city works to shore up vendors to take over routes previously covered by Red River Waste Management.
- The Metro Council issued a rare rebuke Tuesday night of the Nashville Chamber of Commerce for their support of legislation that would give the mayor the power to appoint school board members rather than elections. The mayor’s office said it was not consulted about the lobbying effort.
- A vote in Rutherford County could make things even more difficult for Nashville’s waste management plan, as the primary destination for the city’s trash could soon refuse to accept it.
- District 1 Councilman Jonathan Hall tells the Nashville Scene that he will not seek re-election, saying that it has nothing to do with the ongoing saga around his campaign finance missteps.
- Three Brothers Coffee became the first unionized coffee shop in Nashville, following a similar result at a Knoxville-area Starbucks earlier in the week. The union now turns its attention to negotiating a collective bargaining agreement with ownership.
- Country music star Garth Brooks plans to open a “classic honky-tonk” on Lower Broadway in the former location of the Downtown Sporting Club (and Paradise Park before that).
- Nashville renters are seeing rate hikes as the pandemic wanes, with many seeing monthy leases increase by hundreds of dollars.
- A former head coaching candidate that interviewed with the Tennessee Titans in 2016 has joined a lawsuit against the NFL for discriminatory hiring practices, alleging that his interview process was a “sham.” The original lawsuit was brought by former Miami Dolphins Brian Flores.
- Nashville SC picked up a 2-1 win over host Sporting Kansas City Saturday night after falling behind. The team travels to face the San Jose Earthquakes next Saturday.
- Scores for last week for the Nashville Predators: Minnesota Wild 2 at Predators 6 Tuesday (W); Predators 3 at Ottawa Senators 2 Thursday (W); Florida Panthers 4 at Predators 1 Saturday (L); Predators 2 at Pittsburgh Penguins 3 Sunday (L, OT). The Preds begin a five game homestand, hosting the San Jose Sharks tomorrow, the Edmonton Oilers Thursday, the Chicago Blackhawks Saturday and the St. Louis Blues Sunday.
- A student at Vanderbilt University says that her dorm room has been making her sick because of persistent mold problems, which airborne tests confirmed. Multiple students have raised the concern, saying that campus leaders have been slow to respond.
- The Nashville Banner has begun publishing stories to be shared via a twice-monthly newsletter as the non-profit aims to resurrect a long retired brand into a web-based news outlet.
- East Nashville night spot Crying Wolf announced it would not be renewing its lease, ending a 10 year run on Woodland Street.
