• Tennessee children age 5-11 can now receive the COVID-19 vaccine following approval from the FDA and CDC.

• Community members are raising money for a 13 year-old girl who was hit by a truck in a crosswalk on Gallatin Pike last week. She is being treated at Vanderbilt and is expected to have a long road to recovery.
• Bridgestone Arena will relax its proof of vaccination requirements or negative test on November 13, citing improving case numbers in the region.
• A community group is fighting a planned rock dump site at an old quarry near Bellevue, saying that it is unlikely that will be all on board the dump trucks. The site proposal was originally proposed a decade ago and similarly met stiff push-back.
• Metro Council has delayed a vote on license plate readers, deferring until a meeting in December. The proposal has outspoken supporters and critics.
• The Council is also asking Metro Legal to analyze the effects of the State’s special legislative session that they say limited their ability to govern during the pandemic.
• Some parents are reporting their bus routes are being cut amid a continuing school bus driver shortage.
• District Attorney Glenn Funk says that his decision not to prosecute offenders of some recently passed laws at the legislature (bathroom signage, mask mandate bans, abortion rights restrictions) stems from his belief they would be found unconstitutional in court.
• The Tennessee Titans learned earlier this week they would be without star running back Derrick Henry for upwards of 10 weeks because of a foot injury during the Colts game Sunday. They have signed veteran Adrian Peterson in an effort to fill the void.
• The Nashville Predators (5-5-0) knocked off the Calgary Flames (6-1-2) 3-2 in overtime Tuesday night but dropped a 5-2 decision to the Edmonton Oilers (8-1-0) last night in back-to-back road games. They travel to play the Vancouver Canucks (4-5-1) tomorrow night and the Chicago Blackhawks (1-8-2) Sunday.
• The team also announced they would retire former goaltender Pekka Rinne’s #35 in a ceremony this February.
• Vanderbilt University had two alumni playing on the World Series-winning Atlanta Braves, who closed out the Houston Astros in Game 6 Tuesday night.
• The Nashville Comedy Festival will make its return next year across multiple venues around town.
• The Nashville Rescue Mission is seeking 1,000 turkeys for its Thanksgiving meal for the city’s homeless.
