• Four people have been confirmed dead in this weekend’s flooding that has been described as the worst since the 2010 flood.
• The Harpeth River is projected to crest crest at 35 feet Monday according to the US Army Corp of Engineers, which regulates the dams along the river. It places third on the record list, only four inches below the record set in 2010.

• Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has signed the bill that prohibits a student athlete in the state’s public schools  from playing a sport other than their sex assigned at birth. The measure has drawn condemnation from LGBTQ groups and some in the business community.
• The petition circulated by a Nashville lawyer aimed at curtailing Metro Council’s ability to raise property taxes has been submitted, although several questions remain whether it received the necessary count to appear as a ballot referendum or if the language is admissible.
• In non-weather disaster news, several train cars derailed in Madison early Saturday morning after an apparent collision, creating quite a mess. Nearby neighborhoods were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
• Vanderbilt University announced that it will return to in-person classes this fall.
• Finance personality Dave Ramsey’s company is in the news again, this time for whether an employee can be fired because of his or her sex life.
• Back to back victories by the Nashville Predators (18-17-1) over the host Chicago Blackhawks (16-15-5) this weekend have fans uttering the word “playoffs?” for the first time in quite a while, as they currently sit fourth in the division. They will host the Dallas Stars (11-12-9) for games on Tuesday and Thursday to see if it’s really possible.
