- Right now the weather calls for a chance of ice more than snow, but it’s going to get very cold rather quickly after we enjoyed a nice fall day in the 60s yesterday. ?
- The mayor’s office has announced its plans for the emergency shelter when the temperature drops below 28 degrees, opting to use a former Sheriff’s Office dormitory of Harding Place that can sleep 150 people. The announcement follows weeks of negotiations between city agencies and non-profits.
- Speaking of the mayor, WPLN has a tracker of John Cooper’s campaign promises and how he’s done on them in his first month or so in office.
- Six people were sent to the hospital when a car allegedly ran a stop sign and collided with a WeGo bus Thursday around 5 p.m. near downtown.
- The “Rock Block” in midtown tops the “The Nashville Nine,” a list produced by Historic Nashville of nine historic places in the city threatened by development.
- Metro Nashville Public Schools is having trouble getting payroll issues resolved, according to a WSMV report that found 14 of 40 inquiries resulted in a change being needed in the system. One woman says she’s been fighting with the district for months on issues.
- A new “Safe Bar” program aims to help prevent sexual assault in Nashville’s downtown bars, where management and wait staff are trained on how and when to intervene.
- TPAC is warning folks heading to “Hamilton” to beware of of scammers online and near the venue as tickets go on-sale this morning at 10 a.m. We’d make a funny reference to it here, but we haven’t seen it yet. ?
- The PILOT agreement between the city and Music City Center has been approved by the agency’s board and will send $22 million to the city’s budget this year to help plug a more than $34 million projected shortfall.
- The end of the game between the Tennessee Titans (5-5) and Kansas City Chiefs (6-4) proved the adage of “it isn’t over until it’s over,” with the Titans pulling off a 35-32 win at home. The Titans host the Jacksonville Jaguars (4-5) on November 24 after the bye week.
- The Nashville Predators (9-5-3) had a very forgettable 4-9 loss in Denver against the Avalanche (10-5-2), followed by an improved effort in a 2-1 overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks (7-10-1) Saturday night. The Preds wrap up the four-game road trip tomorrow night in Vancouver against the Canucks (9-6-3).
- The NHL announced Thursday that the Nashville Predators and Boston Bruins will face-off in Prague to open the 2020-2021 season, with the end of training camp also happening overseas.
- October was a record-breaking month for home sales in Nashville, measuring a 15 percent year-over-year increase. The median home price went up by $20,000.
- If you haven’t got your flu shot yet, be aware that those “free” shots come with a cost of $20-66 if you do not have insurance. ?
