- A sign going up at “Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock & Roll Steakhouse” cleared its approval phase to show its illuminated and illustrated butt on Lower Broadway. Yep, it has a butt on it.
- Tennesseans rejoiced as they could finally buy wine on Sundays in local grocery stores, breaking down yet another barrier to the uninhibited sale of alcohol in the state. Grocers and package stores are still prohibited from selling on certain holidays.
- Prosecutors and lawyers for Andrew Delke presented at a preliminary hearing their respective account of events surrounding the death of Daniel Hambrick last July, for which Delke is facing murder charges.
- A Metro Council committee will have roughly 10 minutes a piece to interview more than 180 people who have been nominated to the community oversight board to be selected before January 31. The board will investigate cases of police misconduct in the city.
- Matthew Charles, a man who made national headlines when he was sent back to prison to serve another decade after spending two years as a free man, is again out of prison as a product of the First Step Act. Prosecutors declined to resist the move after previously arguing that he must return to prison in spite of the error that freed him.
- The Nashville Predators (25-15-3) dropped a 3-4 game to the Detroit Red Wings (16-21-7) in overtime Friday night before taking a 4-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens (22-15-5) on Saturday, both games to kick off a season-long six-game road trip. The team is back in action tonight versus the Toronto Maple Leafs (27-12-2) and Wednesday against the Chicago Blackhawks (15-21-7).
- The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency wants you to be on the lookout for a particular kind of skunk, the Eastern Spotted Skunk. We don’t actually want to be close enough to identify what kind it is.
- The Tennessean recaps a rather long list of shops and restaurants that have left the Hillsboro Village neighborhood in the last five years. One of those was Pangaea, which will close after more than three decades.
- A woman in nearby Gallatin has an apparent gasoline leak near her home in the back yard, and isn’t getting much help from city or state officials about it. It could be from a a nearby gas station or some other buried tank.
- Permits show that the Mall at Green Hills will soon be picking up a Crate & Barrel, a sought after housewares company without a location in Tennessee yet. Still not getting that Ikea, y’all.
