- If you thought the scooter problem was bad now, you should know that three more companies are vying to put their rent-able device on Nashville sidewalks. We’re not economists, but it seems unlikely that they can all make it.
- WPLN has a story about how Nashville could learn what works and what doesn’t for its newly formed Community Oversight Board from Knoxville and Memphis. A referendum last November created the board to investigate and recommend punishment for police misconduct.
- A Metro Council member is again introducing legislation that would forbid street vendors from selling newspapers from street corners into cars, an ordinance that critics say unfairly targets the homeless and is of questionable constitutionality. Supporters of the measure say it is necessary for public safety.
- A separate ordinance would require investment in affordable housing to offset any financial incentives given out by the city.
- WKRN has a bizarre story about a music producer accused of kidnapping and assault of a woman over the course of several days in his home. The woman is recovering from her injuries.
- The Nashville Predators (24-15-2) snapped out of their December late funk with a 6-3 win against the Washington Capitals (24-11-3) on the road followed by a 4-0 win over the visiting Philadelphia Flyers (15-19-5). The Predators head out on a six-game road trip, beginning tomorrow night against the Detroit Red Wings (15-20-7) and Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens (21-14-5).
