- A pregnant woman jumped from her third story apartment window and sustained serious injuries in order to escape a suspected rapist Wednesday night in Antioch. Police are still searching for the suspect.
- At-large council member Jim Shulman defeated acting Vice Mayor Sheri Weiner by a wide-margin in Thursday’s run-off election. Weiner had collected the most votes in the August ballot.
- An audit of the beleaguered Metro General Hospital found that three credit cards racked up more than $400,000 in charges that cannot be supported by receipts in 2016 and 2017. The council voted earlier in the year to infuse the hospital with an additional $11.1 million to meet expenses.
- The Nashville Business Journal takes a look at the new $90 million “SoundWaves” water park being built on the Gaylord Opryland Hotel property opening in December. Davidson county residents will be eligible for a discount at the park.
- While the pigeons may have conquered downtown, the Nashville Electric Service plans to deploy a “sound cannon” against them at the Pennington Bend near Donelson to avoid potential power outages. Bonus point for the pissed off pigeon photo.
- So at least one set of the bones discovered in Nashville last week have been identified, said to belong to a man missing since late May. They were discovered on a bluff near Percy Priest lake by a TWRA officer.

- Auto dealership namesake and Belmont University board of trustees member Lee Beaman has been accused in the divorce proceedings of some … well, a lot of things. Beaman has been a figure in Nashville politics for many years.
- A herd of goats loose in Mt. Juliet had us glued to the Internet Friday as police searched for their owners. ?
- A thrift store in Donelson is under fire for posting a sign saying that only service animals assisting the deaf or blind were allowed in the store. Advocates say the policy is too restrictive towards other service animals.
- Area firefighters in full gear climbed the stairs of the 31-floor William R. Snodgrass Tennessee Tower about three and half times on Sunday in downtown Nashville tomorrow in an annual remembrance of the sacrifice of New York City first responders during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The event honors the memory of 343 firefighters that died in the World Trade Center collapse.
- As both Bird and Lime scooters take the streets of Nashville, observers note that they are still facing the safety concerns as they had before they were banned. Seriously, wear a helmet y’all.
- The Tennessee Titans (0-1) lost their season opener 20-27 to the Miami Dolphins (1-0) in a game that took more than seven hours to complete because of the weather and saw several players sustain significant injuries. The Titans host the Houston Texans (0-1) next Sunday in Nashville.
- The Vanderbilt University (2-0) football team picked up its second straight win to open the season against the University of Nevada, Reno (1-1). They travel next Saturday to face #8 Notre Dame (2-0).
- A popup dog park has opened in East Nashville from the creators of BarkBox, offering subscribers amenities such as WiFi and coffee not usually found at a dog park. The park will be open from September through November.
- The Tennessee State Fair opened this past Friday at Fairgrounds Nashville as its future is in doubt with the recent approval of an MLS soccer stadium to be built on the property. The fair runs through September 16.
- An apartment hunting website has named downtown the most attractive neighborhood for renters, followed by Green Hills. An average apartment rent downtown comes in at nearly $1,800 a month.
