- Scott Wietecha, the PE teacher from Hendersonville, won his sixth straight St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville Marathon on Saturday at a time of 2:28:18 even after stopping off to pee. Stella Christoforou, 26, of Fort Campbell, Ky., was the top female finisher in 2:53:46 in only her second marathon.
- The Nashville Predators are heading to Winnipeg for Game 3 Tuesday tied 1-1 in the series against the Jets after a thrilling double-overtime win Sunday 4-5. The Preds put 47 shots on net Friday night, but only were able to get one past the Jets in a 4-1 loss.
- James Shaw, Jr., the man who wrested away a rifle from an attacker at a Waffle House last week, has raised more than $185,000 for the victims’ families to help pay for funeral and other costs. He was honored prior to Sunday’s game.
- The Tennessee Titans were in the house doing their traditional pre-game celebration involving beer, catfish and a shirtless Quinton Spain.
- The Titans drafted linebacker Rashaan Evans from the University of Alabama Thursday night. The Titans only had four picks in the seven-round draft.
- A tractor trailer truck hit the bottom of an onramp Friday afternoon, wrapping a steel beam around the piece of equipment it was hauling and snarling traffic across the city. The driver did not have the proper permit to haul the oversized load.

- Bridgestone Americas, headquartered in Nashville, gave 6,000 acres of acres in the Cumberland Plateau to a conservation group, the largest received in its 40 year history.
- Mewsic City Cafe, saying that it is the first “cat cafe” in the area, opened its doors to the public off Nolensville Road Saturday. Originally a one-day pop-up, tt is one of many cat-themed ventures coming to the city. ?
- A plastic bag ban will be introduced at the next Metro Council meeting in an effort to reduce the number of bags that end up in landfills. The measure follows similar legislation in other cities nationwide.
- The tomb of former President Andrew Jackson was vandalized overnight Thursday with spray-paint at the Hermitage property east of Nashville. Officials say it was the first time the tomb had been damaged in more than two centuries.
