- The Nashville Predators have taken a 2-0 lead over the Colorado Avalanche in Round 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, with a 2-5 win on Thursday and a 4-5 win Saturday. The next two games are at a ridiculously late start time of 9 p.m. CT tonight and Wednesday in Denver.
- It is a little hard for Filip Forsberg to impress Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Taylor Lewan, apparently.
- The Davidsion County Election Commission is having to scramble to comply with a court order to hold a special mayoral election on Friday, May 24. Early voting in that election will begin three days after the transit referendum and primary vote on May 1.
- The administrators of Metro Nashville Public Schools continue to face criticism over spending after an investigative report found that they were going to have a secret retreat to discuss the budget in a possible violation of sunshine laws. Their public information officer called it “fake news.”
- Warner Parks in West Nashville officially expanded another 250 acres after the Burch Reserve in Edwin Warner Park opened Saturday after years of legal disputes with the company that owns the train tracks that run through the property. The matter was resolved with the construction of a tunnel under the tracks and a pedestrian connector.
- Some guy allegedly lit a bunch of toilet paper on fire in a South Nashville Waffle House in order to evade what he claims was somebody stalking him. Bold strategy.
- The storms over the weekend were a bit strong, knocking what appears to be an air conditioning unit and its ducting off an East Nashville office building.
- A raid on a Bellevue pet store has lead to three employees facing charge of animal cruelty for not providing care to sick or injured animals for sale in the store. Investigators were tipped off by footage from PETA.
- The calendar says spring, but our thermometers say freeze.
- PSA: Tomorrow is Tax Day (rather than Sunday or today) because of a municipal holiday today in Washington D.C. Hopefully you’re already done.
