Good morning, Nashville, and a special Veterans Day shout-out to our servicemen and women. Festivities will be underway in about an hour downtown with the annual Veterans Day parade down Broadway, stretching from 14th Ave. to 3rd Ave. So if you’re in the area, be aware of road closures and get out there and thank a veteran if you can.
- We’ve seen it all. Antioch has its very own Antioch Protest Chicken, which is a person in a chicken suit who jumps around with a sign expressing disappointment in Mayor Dean’s proposal to move the fairgrounds expo center to Hickory Hollow. You can also follow the chicken on Twitter @AntiochChicken, of course.
- As the State Legislature turns. State Rep. Curry Todd is under fire for saying that undocumented immigrants “can go out there like rats and multiply” if Cover Kids–the state-funded healthcare program for children–doesn’t diligently check for citizenship before paying for services.
- Bits & pieces. CMA fans were pretty impressed at how well we’ve cleaned up since the flood … Here is your reminder that the Middle Tennessee Medical Center will be live-tweeting a hysterectomy today … Many Belmont students are upset that the school rejected a student-run GLBT support group … Twelve more downtown businesses must move to make way for the convention center … A driver flipped his car on Music Row last night, somehow.
