Good morning, Nashville. The USDA is finally charging Vanderbilt University “a hefty fine” for the dead baby monkey that turned up in a washing machine. Apparently the monkey was a research subject in a university lab when someone washed the nesting boxes and forgot to take the monkey out first. Of course! The fine includes charges for a couple of other shady incidents involving a couple of hamsters and a dog.
- Cabs and Commodores. Good news for all the Vandy students out there! Nashville cabs will start accepting Vanderbilt student IDs as payment in an effort to dissuade students from even being tempted to drive drunk.
- Serial robber arrested. A suspect has finally been arrested in a string of robberies and attempted robberies in south Nashville, and he confessed to actually targeting Hispanic individuals.
- We are so embarrassed. Hey look, we made the Daily Show again!
- Bits & pieces. The Energy Star appliance rebate hotline has unclogged itself, so it should be safe to call, though you can still apply online … The 1960 Summer Olympics reunion is heading to Nashville this weekend, for some reason … Now that Douglas Henry’s opponent knows who he’s running against, he’s turning up the campaign heat … Our amazing weather will continue into tomorrow.
