Happy Hour: Fun With Words

  • This whole thing about student vaccinations (or “shots,” in the parlance of our times) has delivered some pretty giggle-inducing headlines, not the least of which is the Williamson County AM’s failure that wound up on one of our favorite internet things, Probably Bad News.   • Metro’s latest budget cut idea is to eliminate office phones and voicemail boxes for all Metro Council members, meaning that constituents will have to get in touch with their representatives via their home and cell phones. Now, we all know that there’s always THAT constituent in every district who calls every three days, about everything. Now imagine this person calling you on your cell phone, every day. We veto this idea on behalf of our poor Metro Council. [City Paper]
  • We wish East Tennessee would stop with the rockslides already. And we’re sure East Tennessee wishes that East Tennessee would stop with the rock slides as well. [WSMV]
  • The Tennessee Senate voted to approve an amendment that would create a constitutional ban on a state income tax. While Senate approval is vital, it still has a very very long way to go. [Tennessean]
