By the looks of the Nashvillest Flickr pool, we have a lot of talented photographers out there in Music City. That’s why we want to tell you about a great contest sponsored by the Tennessean for all of our Nashvillian shutterbugs. Here’s how it works: You go out and take some pictures, create a profile, and post some of your best shots on the contest’s website. The rest of us go there and vote for our favorites, and the best will be published in the Capture Music City coffee table book. The Tennessean calls it “collaborative publishing,” but we just think it’s a great idea.
They’re looking for photos that fit into any of the eight chapters: People, Nature, Sports & Recreation, Pets & Animals, Newsworthy, Simply Nashville, and Celebrations. Outside of being published, there are some other prizes (we’re talking gift certificates) being given away in each category for Editor’s Choice, Concensus Best, and Ninth Best. “Why ninth place?” they say, “We’ve all seen the first-place, blue, fancy-pants ribbon, and the second-place one, and third, and fourth, and so on. … But we’ve never seen a ninth-place ribbon. Have you?”
So grab your cameras and hit the town. You’ve got three months to hone your craft, and the clock is already ticking. Congrats to some of our own Flickr contributors who we recognize in there already: Chris Wage, Josh Hunter, and Richard Call. Head over there and show them some love.
Good luck, Nashville!
