Happy Hour: Number Nine

  • In an effort to appear cool (and okay, also to bring more live music to Nashville), Mayor Dean is teaming up with Lightning 100 to bring a number of free shows to the public square downtown. We won’t find out who’s playing until the press conference tomorrow. [City Paper]
  • When he’s not hatin’ on will.i.am or getting punched in the face or creating drama on the internet, Perez Hilton is now bashing Nashville by truly hitting us where it hurts: our country accents. Ouch. [Pith In The Wind]
  • Because everything has a Nashville connection, a woman from middle Tennessee hit the proverbial Michael Jackson jackpot and was one of winners of the ticket lottery for his memorial service out in LA. [WSMV]
  • Metro Police were able to confirm today that the gun used to kill Steve McNair and Sahel Kazemi belonged to Kazemi and was purchased on Thursday night. There still aren’t any definitive answers as to what happened or why, but there’s plenty of shadiness to go around. [Tennessean]
  • Jeff Fisher, who was on his way home from the Persian Gulf when all of this was going down, finally gave a press conference today and it was pretty gut-wrenching. [Tennessean]
