Happy Hour: Runaway Train

  • The Preds are going to the mattresses to get things settled with forward Alexander Radulov, who decided he didn’t feel like coming back stateside and decided that hockey in Russia is cooler. [WTVF]
  • Former Metro Councilman/stand-up comedian/wave-maker extraordinaire Adam Dread is back in the spotlight these days stirring up some drama with the Tennessean. Just when we thought things were getting boring around here… [Pith In The Wind]
  • Hey, have you heard Belmont’s hosting a presidential debate? Oh, also, you can now submit your questions for the candidates through MyDebates.org in partnership with Myspace. And there will be live Twittering. Oi. [Tennessean Election Blog]
  • Neely’s Bend Middle School in Madison (yep, still Davidson County) confirmed a case of the highly contagious and nasty MRSA. [WKRN]
  • You’ve probably noticed your regular fill-up stations running out of gas in the past few days; it could be a while before they get fuel again. [WKRN]

Tomorrow: Capitol Pub Crawl 2 Featuring Trace Adkins, Luke Bryan, Darius Rucker, Emily West

Join Capitol Records tomorrow night for their 2nd annual Capitol Pub Crawl down on Demonbreun Street to hear some free country tunes. That’s right, we said free. The weather is perfect (if you remember last year, count yourself blessed) for popping in and out of the bars (at least the ones that are left) and hanging out in the street watching some live music. We’re not really sure where to tell you to park, but we advise everyone to steer clear of the area if you’re not headed to the show. The fun starts at 6pm with Luke Bryan and Emily West playing in Tin Roof and Dan McGuinness, and will continue outside in the middle of Demonbreun for headliners Darius Rucker and Trace Adkins.

Photo Of The Day: September 17, 2008

We can’t pass up a spectacular mullet when we see one and these are no exception. This shot comes to us from Brandon James, ever the taker of hilarious pictures, and is actually the second mullet photo (here’s the first) to end up in our pool this week. Not that we’re trying to give the impression that Nashville means mullets or anything, but there’s always room for them in the pool. Plenty of room. We’re just sayin’.

Photo Of The Day will be a recurring feature for Nashvillest as long you keep giving us stuff to post. Don’t worry–we’ll give you props. Just add them to the pool or tag them with “Nashvillest” if you’re feeling lazy.

Bright & Early: Keep The Ball Rolling Edition

Good morning, Nashville. Developers of the reviled Bible Park USA are “very, very close” to deciding which part of the state they’ll target next in their quest to snag some land for the Bible-themed amusement park. We’re still pretty convinced that the whole idea sounds a little ridiculous, but our money’s on Lebanon and Wilson County who seem pretty warm to the idea. We’re just having a rough time blocking this one out of our minds. Past developers were forced out of Rutherford County, their first choice for the park, when county officials refused to give them the zoning they needed.

  • As seen around town. If you live or work downtown, don’t be surprised today if you come across a person rolling around in a hamster ball. The bizarre display is part of Disney’s Bolt Across America tour that sets out to raise money for the ASPCA. And if you’re lucky enough to see it, please please PLEASE send us some pictures so we can live vicariously.
  • Firebombing. Two firebombs were hurled through the window of a house in East Nashville overnight. Fortunately no one was hurt, but the suspects are still on the run.
  • Bits & pieces. Utah students send 571,795 text messages to a radio station to win a visit from Jessica Simpson … The Bush Legacy Tour bus hung out around the Capitol yesterday for two hours to prove a point about President Bush and his ties with Sen. Lamar Alexander … Ronnie Brooks of Brooks & Dunn is pretty sick and had to miss a couple of shows … A Nashville man was added to TBI’s top ten Most Wanted list.
