Tennesseans Are Defying The Odds [Mixed Reviews]

Tennessee may be the 3rd/6th fattest state, but Williamson County is actually the 3rd skinniest county in the nation, and Maury County is 4th. [Thanks to Laurel for the tip!]

Tennessee may be the Volunteer State, but we rank 39th on the national scale of actual volunteer rates. Nashville fares a little better when compared to other cities; we’re 22nd out of 50 large cities.

Tennessee may have some of the safest drivers around (we disagree), but Tennesseeans spend almost 6% of their income on gas. We’re the 17th most vulnerable state to the price of oil.

We like to keep it complicated here in Tennessee.

Tennessee has “safe” drivers because they all drive below the speed limit. Seriously, there are many times when hitting the gas pedal and gettin the hell out of a situation is the best way to go. And btw, no one here knows how to turn left at an intersection, you pull up so you can turn left when it goes yellow, completely legal and keeps the left lane moving.

That being said, you want to see unsafe driving, try visiting New Jersey (I do not in any way ever recommend it).

    K, my rant is done.

@Jim – It’s probably because if you turn left on yellow here in Nashville you’ll get hit, since no one actually stops for red lights.
