No Need To Pack A Lunch Tomorrow
If you’re like us, you’re probably painfully aware that McDonalds is giving away their Southern-Style Chicken Biscuits & Sandwiches all day tomorrow. We especially appreciate the enticing television ads that appear no less than 6 times through the duration of our workout at the gym.
What you may not know is that Dunkin Donuts is also giving away free iced coffee from 10am to 10pm tomorrow. We’re so glad Dunkin Donuts finally came to Nashville! That’s a decent breakfast and lunch if we can stomach eating the same chicken sandwich twice in a day. The McDonalds deal requires the purchase of a medium or large drink, but we can probably handle that. Sweet tea is only $1.

Happy Hour: That Is Messed Up
- Williamson County’s got rabies. Well, at least one critter does. Police confirmed a case of rabies in a skunk near the College Grove area. If you’re out in Williamson, it may be a good idea to pull your pets inside until we hear more. [WTVF]
- The U.S. Department of Justice is looking into Metro City Council’s decision to exclude rehab centers from certain zoning districts around town, forcing one center–Teen Challenge–to close its doors. There’s talk of a nasty lawsuit brewing, but the Metro’s legal council has advised them to stay the course. [City Paper]
- Remember when we said we weren’t sure what the Alternative High School Initiative was? City Paper has a pretty thorough explanation of it. It looks neat, but probably not neat enough to save Metro Public Schools from The Giant Claws of Death (you know, the state government takeover.) [City Paper]
- We hate to leave you with this one, but we just couldn’t resist: WKRN is reporting that some Nashville neighborhood has been overrun by “rats, feces.” Gross! Good news is, we found a new (for us) blog! From WKRN, we bring you That Is Messed Up. [WKRN]

Crema Contest: What’s In A Name?
The folks over at Crema Coffee have a job for you: They need a name for their new Thai-ish summer coffee drink. What’s in it for you? Free coffee for a whole week. Twitter them with your ideas at @cremacrema or shoot them an email at contact@crema-coffee.com. Even if you’re stumped, head over to their store to sample the new addition, whatever it’s called.

Photo Of The Day: Fisheye View
We loved this shot from sulalex, who’s been playing around with a fisheye lens and capturing parts of Nashville we didn’t even know existed. If you love these shots as much as we do and you’re looking for a weekend project, check out Photojojo for the DIY fisheye lens.
Photo Of The Day will be a recurring feature for Nashvillest as long you keep giving us stuff to post. Don’t worry- We’ll give you props. Just add them to the pool or tag them with “Nashvillest†if you’re feeling lazy.

Whole Foods Is More Generous Than We Thought
Is this Nashville’s best kept secret or what? We’re certainly no strangers to Whole Foods, as you could say Nashvillest “headquarters” is right across the street from the new Hill Center. But usually a trip to Whole Foods for us means wandering through the path most likely to guarantee new samples, while knowing that shopping at Whole Foods is the best way to blow a limited food budget in one shot. We’re jumping for joy after discovering the wealth of free events that both the Whole Foods Market in Green Hills and the Wild Oats Natural Marketplace in Cool Springs offer. Complimentary massages in Whole Body, free tastings with the Salud! Cooking School chefs, wine & cheese pairings, shrimp demonstrations (sampling required, of course), local growers demonstrations, free vegetarian & raw foods cooking classes, free beer tastings, health & budget shopping classes, and a weekly kids hour are among the bounty we’ve discovered. Wild Oats also offers several classes that range from $10-$35, but we’re confident that they’re worth it.
Another Whole Foods tip – If you’ve been eyeing the Salud! Cooking School but can’t quite lay down the $35-$100 per class, they offer a volunteer program. You attend and help with the chopping, boiling and cleaning for 4 classes, you get a credit for a free class of your choice! That’s 5 classes you can attend for only the cost of a little elbow grease.

Vandy Helps You Dispose of Your Defunct HD-DVD Player
Starting today, Vanderbilt University is sponsoring Electronics Recycling Week. May 14-16 are “Institutions & Business” disposal days, and May 17 is “Individual & Consumer” disposal day. Drop your stuff off at LP Field any time between 9am and 3pm each day. However, the site says that they will not be accepting anti-static foil bags, so keep those at home.
