Little did we know when we posted this review of Prince’s Hot Chicken Shack that hot chicken was going to be the buzz of the summer. It seems that more and more people are discovering the glory that is a firey piece of fried chicken, particularly from Prince’s, and this Slashfood article blames it on something they call “Hot Chicken Syndrome.” The majority of what Slashfood has to say is a bit on the fluffy side, as evidenced by the opening:
True to cliché, countless failed country stars stream out of Nashville with their money spent, spirits broken and nothing but a nasty hot chicken habit to show for their Music City sojourn. It’s an addiction many twangsters say they just can’t kick.
But we can’t argue with the premise. Hot chicken is dang good, and addictive, and all that and a bag of chips. That’s why we have an entire festival devoted to devouring hot chicken (and it’s coming up soon).
Nashvillians, help us give Prince’s a trial by fire: What’s the best hot chicken in town?
