• Mayor John Cooper penned an op ed about his approach to the MLS stadium project in Sunday’s Tennessean. It wasn’t well received by the project’s supporters as they launched a website later that afternoon, BuildTheStadium.com.
• Nashville SC has filed a motion to intervene in a lawsuit filed by the group Save Our Fairgrounds that will advance to trial to block the city from building the stadium at all. The MLS could pull out of the city if construction does not begin by the end of March.
• The Nashville Scene has an in-depth look at the city’s growing trash problem, where we might run out of landfill space before 2025 and with less options for recycling.
• Sidewalks (and a lack of them in parts of the city) has been a hot topic for years, but now a task force is studying the issue and proposing everything from reallocating budgets to letting people build their own sidewalks after a training course. Not so sure about that last one.
• Business owners are trying to save the ‘Rock Block’ on Elliston Place in midtown from developers, seeking a historical overlay from the city to preserve the popular music venue Exit/In and its nearby businesses.
• Metro has filed a lawsuit against the state legislature’s plan on school vouchers, saying that it violates the state’s constitution and will cost the public school system $16 million in its first year. The passage in 2019’s session started investigations that lead to the ouster of the Speaker of the House from his post.
• A coalition of social justice organizations have filed a lawsuit on behalf of the city’s bail fund, arguing the current policies unjustifiably keep poor people in jail longer for non-violent infractions.
• A group has released a report about the 37208 zip code, recommending improved community resource centers, affordable housing and better access to transit among other items after a study found the area had the highest incarceration rate in the country.
• The Nashville Predators (26-21-7) picked up a 3-2 win over the Calgary Flames (28-22-6) Thursday night before losing 3-2 to the Edmonton Oilers (29-20-6) Saturday night. They close out their Canadian road trip against the  Vancouver Canucks (30-21-5) tonight.
• The former site of Starwood Amphitheater will be converted to industrial and office space, a departure from the original plan to build residential units into the 65 acre plot of land in Antioch.
• 20th Century Fox has announced plans to produce a country music-themed show called ‘East Nasty’ that will be available on the Freeform cable channel.
• Sixty eight pounds of marijuana was found in a man’s luggage at Nashville International Airport last week.
• We’re still scratching our heads about a viral video at the Inglewood Kroger where a literal food fight broke out.
