- Beware the potholes that have shown up on the roadways after the weekend storms. ?
- There are more signs that Nashville’s housing market is cooling, this time with overall home sale prices ending five years of year-over-year increases of an average of $25,000. This year’s numbers came in at around a $5,000 average increase.
- Metro Nashville Public Schools announced a restructuring of its troubled human resources department after an investigation turned up a confidential of low morale among teachers and the recommendation to terminate or re-train the previous head of the department.
- The Nashville Scene takes a look at the nine homeless camps that have been razed in the last five years, the most recent coming near Ellington Parkway in East Nashville. Homeless advocates say the city’s actions have been with little regard to those affected.
- The Nashville Predators (39-26-5) dropped a 5-3 game at home against the Carolina Hurricanes (37-24-7) Saturday night. The team begins their annual California road trip tomorrow night against the Anaheim Ducks (27-33-9).
- An apartment complex near the airport is in the news after residents allege that their apartment is infested with mice and cockroaches after the management company discontinued extermination services.
- The Fifth + Broadway development downtown has topped out one corner of the complex which is aiming for a spring opening next year. Aerial construction work continues on the main office tower.
- A school secretary at Percy Priest Elementary estimates that she has pulled more than 10,000 teeth in her 33 years at the school. At about 180 days per school year, that averages out to a little under two teeth per day. ?
- MGM Resorts (of Las Vegas fame) is partnering with AEG to create the new entertainment district at the Nashville Yards development, the former home of the LifeWay Tower and future home of the Amazon office buildings. The complex will include a 4,000 seat music venue, nine-screen movie theater and a club with a two-year construction timeline.
- The Nashville Zoo has opened a new 23,000 square-foot veterinary center at the park, with an outdoor viewing area to give visitors a behind-the-scenes look.
- The Nashville Scene has put out their annual People Issue, highlighting the interesting and ambitious folks that call Music City home.
- PSA: The SEC basketball tournament is downtown this week at Bridgestone Arenea starting Wednesday, so plan your commute accordingly.
