- Metro Nashville is considering purchasing a building belonging to the National Baptist Convention as part of a land swap deal with developer Tony Giarrantana, a move that would cost about $12 million because it is adjacent to one of the parking lots he owns. The building has been deemed in poor condition.
- WPLN reports that a unit inside the District Attorney’s office created two years ago to review potential wrongful convictions has yet to recommend a single case be formally evaluated for someone’s innocence. The Conviction Review Unit, up until recently comprised of seven prosecutors, has denied all 38 cases.

- There are now more than 72,000 people working downtown, representing a 25 percent growth over the last three years. That number could be as high as 100,000 when Amazon and others fully ramp up their operations here.
- The transit planning study for the Dickerson Pike corridor will move forward without the federal grant money the city was hoping to receive this year. The study is expected to recommend changes to the current transit options along the road.
- The Tennessean continued to lose newsroom staff, this time laying off a video producer, high school sports reporter and a regional editor. The moves are separate of the planned 60-person layoffs scheduled in March when the printing operations are moved to Knoxville.
- A local nonprofit is trying to connect donated food from local restaurants to people who need it by easing the burden on restaurant owners trying to get their food to the people who need it. The aim is to help the community while reducing food waste.
- The NFL Draft will be in town April 25-27 and it is expected to draw a large group of locals and visitors from out of town. The events are free to the public, but you have to sign up for the lottery drawing to get in.
- The Nashville Predators will play their first ever outdoor game next New Year’s Day in Texas against the Dallas Stars for the NHL Winter Classic. Both teams will sport new alternate jerseys for the annual event, expected to be released in November.

- The families of suicide victims are advocating for taller barriers at the Natchez Trace Bridge to the southwest Nashville. More than 30 people have jumped from the bridge since its completion in 1996.
