- A suspected gunman opened fire in an Antioch Waffle House in the early hours of Sunday morning, killing four and injuring three others. Travis Reinking remains at large as of this writing, and is considered armed and very dangerous.
- Reinking had a history of run-ins with the law, including an attempt to enter the White House in Washington, D.C. and having his weapons seized by Illinois authorities. The weapons were given to his father, who admits that he gave them back to his son.
- The tragedy could have been far worse had it not been for the actions of James Shaw, who wrested the weapon from the gunman before others were hurt. Shaw was injured in the struggle.
- While most wine and liquor stores could have legally been open yesterday, many have already confirmed they begin offering Sunday hours next weekend. A few stores were open yesterday for the first time.?
- The Nashville Predators are moving on to face the Winnipeg Jets in the Western Conference Semifinals after an emphatic win over the Colorado Avalanche 5-0 Sunday night in Denver to take the series 4-2. One round down, three to go.
- Friday the Preds lost a 2-1 heart-breaker in the closing minutes of Game 5 against the Colorado Avalanche. The Avs had managed a comeback to bring the series to 3-2 in the last five or so minutes of the game.
- A former Nashville Metro Police Department officer is accused of being a member of a violent gang and using his access to the TBI system to illegally access other members’ files. The officer was the first Kurdish member of the force.
- Grimey’s New and Preloved Music (and it’s popular music venue) will be moving to East Nashville off of Trinity Lane near Gallatin Pike to a former church. Those of us on the east-side are pretty pumped.
- A completely different church could become an 18-room boutique hotel if it is approved by the zoning board. The church is thought to be more than a century old.
- The Tennessee Titans announced their 2018 season schedule Thursday, which includes a really-far-“away” game in London at Wembley Stadium against the Chargers. They will also appear on Monday Night Football twice, and host a Thursday Night Football game against Jacksonville.
