Good morning, Nashville. The company who was pouring cement for the Music City Center has been suspended from the job because they’ve slashed employees’ wages by 20% and keeps writing paychecks that bounce. The contractor is working on finding another firm to take over and trying to smooth things over with the Metro Convention Center Authority.
- Convention center drama. Construction on Metro’s new West Precinct building is on hold thanks to about $900,000 in flood damages before they were even able to start renovating it. They bought the building last year with plans to give it a significant facelift, but now they’re not sure what they’re going to do with it.
- Haynesworth’s brother killed. Albert Haynesworth’s brother was killed in a motorcycle crash last night after he collided with a car on Gallatin Pike in Madison. Witnesses say he was going about 100 mph and the force of the collision caused the car to do a 180.
- Bits & pieces. It’s supposed to be 87 degrees this weekend, which is not so good for the livestock (or for our corn mazin’ plans!) … Nashville home sales have fallen 19% in the past year … The Green Hills Provence is shutting down this weekend and Sweet Cece’s is moving in … Opponents of the Murfreesboro Islamic Center filed a court injunction to stop construction … The Omni released their renderings for the proposed convention center hotel, which would be about 25 stories tall.
