Good morning, Nashville. How ’bout that nasty storm on Saturday night? Mass power outages, downed trees, minor flash flooding and Mama Mia’s roof caving in were just a few of the treats we experienced this weekend, but at least our power outages were due to a storm and not a “very acrobatic and mean-spirited” raccoon like Memphis’. We’ve got to admit, we’re ready for the cooler weather predicted to be rolling in this week. But first! More storms.

• Dotted line. Governor Phil signed the state’s nearly $30 billion spending plan into law on Friday. The plan includes a relief program for flood victims and saves a program meant to combat our third-world infant mortality rate.
• Eeek. If you notice an extra 1,200 little girls under the age of eleven running around town this week, you have the National AAU Girls 11-under Basketball National Tournament to thank. They’ll be competing all week at the Brentwood A-Game Sportplex, Ensworth and BGA.
• Bits & pieces. A 72-year old woman is in critical condition after being hit by a MTA bus at Charlotte & 4th on Saturday … 18,000 people braved the heat last weekend to attend Nashville’s Pride festival … It’s okay to use the water in LaVergne, now … Second Harvest Food Bank continues to experience record demand … Opryland plans to raise levees by at least 8 feet.
