Good morning, Nashville. Yesterday we took a look at lawsuits that are draining Metro Schools’ budget. Today we learn that the city has doled out over a half-million dollars in settlements over the last two months for incidents including a car accident with a MNPD officer, the infamous gold grill scandal and a wrongful arrest. Councilman Mike Craddock recognizes that city individuals or entities were to blame for each of the incidents, but he doesn’t feel that suing Metro is the answer.
- Future of sex ed. Metro Schools officials and some of the folks from Nashville CARES will meet today to decide how to handle the continuation of sex ed training at Hillshoro High School after the controversy earlier this month that made national news.
- Preds win Game 3. The Preds plowed past the Blackhawks 4-1 last night in Game 3 of the playoffs. Game 4 will happen tomorrow night at the Bridgestone Arena.
- Bits & pieces. Both Sarah and Todd Palin may end up testifying in the email-hacking case against former UT student and son of TN Rep. Mike Kernell … A big congrats to Belmont Prez Bob Fisher for being voted “Nashvillian of the Year” … The Titans schedule for 2010 is up … Taco Mamacita is now free to sell regular ol’ beer, thanks to the Metro Council.
