• Nashville SC welcomed 30,000 fans to their new stadium Sunday at Fairgrounds Nashville, opening as the largest soccer-specific stadium in the country.
• The game ended in a 1-1 draw against Philadelphia Union. The team hosts Real Salt Lake next Sunday.
• Ahead of the game, the team announced that Titans player Derrick Henry and actress Reese Witherspoon will be joining the team’s ownership group.
• The Metro School Board declined the applications of five separate charter schools last week, setting up a likely appeal to the state board that can overrule the local decision.
• Mayor John Cooper delivered his annual State of Metro address last week, outlining spending priorities in the new year and saying the city is recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.
• The proposed Metro budget will top out around $3 billion, but at least one council member is criticizing the process for not giving them enough detail on how the money will be spent ahead of the vote.
• A Vanderbilt University survey conducted since 2015 says that for the first time a slight majority of Nashvillians believe the city is on the wrong track. Respondents gave Cooper high approval ratings, while ratings for city council, school board, and police department all dropped.

• The city is developing “heat maps” that will guide officials on addressing the public health concerns caused by sweltering temperatures in the summer months.
• A jury convicted a woman on reckless endangerment charges last week in the 2017 incident where she shot a man who had been sleeping on the sidewalk near Music Row after he complained to her about her vehicle’s exhaust and loud music.

• Nashville Predators results for last week: Calgary Flames 5 at Predators  4 (L/OT) Tuesday; Predators 5 at Colorado Avalanche 4 (W/SO) Thursday; Arizona Coyotes 5 at Predators 4 (L). The regular season has ended.
• The Predators have drawn the second wild card spot for the playoffs, setting up a series against the Colorado Avalanche. The series starts tomorrow in Denver.
• The General Assembly wrapped up its annual session last week with a whirlwind of new laws sent to the Governor.
• The former home of Tenn Sixteen in the Five Points neighborhood of East Nashville will be the home of a new diner and bar inspired by a similar concept in Washington D.C.
• The Antioch neighborhood has been named the most pet-friendly in the United States according to Zillow and pet walking app Rover.
• Nashville’s hotel revenue is down by about $80 million or eight percent, but has fared much better than other areas of the country.
