- A jury found former Vanderbilt University Medical Center nurse RaDonda Vaught guilty of criminally negligent homicide, the lesser of two charges she faced, after she mistakenly gave a patient a paralyzing drug instead of a sedative in 2017. Sentencing is set for May.
- Mayor John Cooper announced last week that the Hickory Hollow Mall will be converted into a VUMC clinic, similar to the one that took over the former 100 Oaks Mall in 2008. The city plans to purchase the property and lease it back to VUMC.
- In a uniquely Nashville problem, freight trains blocking intersections have been blamed for late trash pickups in certain areas of the city.
- Already plagued by numerous delays and one relocation, the opening of the “Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit Nashville” was again postponed because of a stop-work order from the Codes department for not clearing its final inspections. The exhibit finally opened Friday, with tickets between $40 and $55.
- The Nashville Symphony announced its 2022-23 season schedule, featuring nearly 100 performances and several world premieres, commissions and recording projects.

- The man who set an office in the Metro Courthouse on fire during the 2020 protests over the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis has been sentenced to five years in federal prison.
- A portion of Nashville’s lone commuter rail line was closed last week after a CSX freight train derailed near Mt. Juliet. The Music City Star runs east from downtown out to Lebanon.
- The new Nashville SC stadium (GEODIS Park) has unveiled its local food vendors, including Daddy’s Dogs, Central BBQ, Corner Pub, Prince’s Hot Chicken, Rock’n Dough Pizza and Brewery and Chivanada. The first home game is set for May 1.
- Nashville Predators Scores for the Week: Predators 6 @ Anaheim Ducks 3 (W); Predators 1 @ Los Angeles Kings 6 (L); Predators 1 @ Vegas Golden Knights 6 (L); Philadelphia Flyers 4 @ Predators 5 (W). The Predators host the Ottawa Senators Tuesday and travel to the Buffalo Sabres Friday.

- An elementary school student on a field trip to the Nashville Zoo got a little bit of extra time at the park when his group from Alabama accidentally left without him Monday.
- Metro Nashville Police detectives were unable to find an Apple AirTag hidden in man’s vehicle after it was stolen, so he took the door apart and found it for them. The inexpensive device is increasingly being used by criminals in stalking and car theft cases.
- The average cost of a wedding in Nashville has risen to a staggering $28,000, amounting to about $200 per invited guest.
- Second Avenue bar Coyote Ugly has reopened following the Christmas Day 2020 bombing that destroyed several buildings across the street from a major AT&T communication hub.
- Officials unveiled a new historical marker at Centennial Park at the location of a desegregation protest at a city pool that led to the closure of all city pools for dubious “budget reasons.” The city would later reopen the pools, except that one that is now an arts center.
