- Advocates say that record 194 people experiencing homelessness died in Nashville this year, with their names shared at an annual memorial service over the weekend. The life expectancy of of a person living on the streets is more than 20 years lower than the general public.
- Seven men have been indicted in the death of Dallas Barrett at Whiskey Row on Lower Broadway this past August, with six of them working at the bar at the time and one as a patron involved in the altercation. The men are charged with reckless homicide and aggravated assault resulting in death.
- The Historical Commission approved a new marker to be placed outside of Metro General Hospital honoring Nashville’s first female doctors.
- Nashville Mayor John Cooper is proposing that Metro add Junteenth to its paid holiday list for 2022, following a similar move by the federal government earlier this year.
- Census data shows that businesses and corporations based in other countries have more than doubled in the mid-state in the last ten years, fueling relocations from around the world to the mid-state.
- WKRN reports that several women in Nashville have had Apple Air Tags attached to their vehicles based on alerts sent to their phones about an unrecognized device. Police say thieves use the $40 device to case houses and vehicles left unattended.
- A shooting in Madison early Thursday morning was the tenth this year involving Metro Nashville Police Department officers and the seventh to result in a fatality.
- The Tennessee Titans (9-5) came up a bit short against the Pittsburgh Steelers 19-13 on the road, with three games remaining to try and lock up the top division spot. The team hosts the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football.
- The Nashville Predators picked up a 3-2 overtime win over the Chicago Blackhawks Friday night, continuing to play with a depleted roster from COVID-19 issues.
- The virus also canceled a weekend basketball game between the University of Tennessee and the University of Memphis about an hour before tip-off.
