- PSA: Hospitals are calling on residents to donate blood if they can as a national blood bank shortage takes hold this summer.
- The Nashville District Attorney’s office reached a plea bargain with former Metro Police officer Andrew Delke in the 2018 shooting death of Daniel Hambrick, with Delke agreeing to a sentence of three years for voluntary manslaughter. Family of Hambrick were upset by the move while the DA was not confident they could win a conviction.
- State officials are defending a decision to launch a promotion to bring tourists to the state on the same day as ending enhanced federal unemployment benefits.
- The owners of second avenue buildings have submitted demolition requests to the planning department, ending attempts to rehabilitate them from damage sustained in the Christmas Day bombing.
- The popular to-go alcohol policy that went into effect during the pandemic has been extended until 2023, but will require re-authorization if it is to continue after that.
- The Fourth of July fireworks display briefly forced eight Metro Police officers to shelter in place after responding to a trespassing call on the roof of a building in the restricted zone. The department opened in inquiry into how the decision was made to start the fireworks while the officers were still in the area.
- The mayor’s office announced a pilot project where residents age 14 and up in a North Nashville neighborhood will be able to vote on how to spend $2 million of the city budget on infrastructure improvements. Residents will submit ideas for the ballot between now and October.
- Nashville SC (4-1-6) picked up a 1-0 against Philadelphia Union (5-3-4) Monday night at Nissan Stadium. They host Atlanta United (2-3-6) tonight.

- The Nashville Predators traded forward Viktor Arvidsson to the Los Angeles Kings for draft picks last week, parting ways with the franchise single-season goals scored record holder. Nashville drafted “Arvy” in 2014.
- A Tennessee State University basketball player and son of “Master P” has signed a $2 million deal shortly after the NCAA finalized rules to allow student athletes to make money on their name, image and likeness.
- A North Nashville will be renamed to include the late civil rights activist Kwame Lillard as Hadley-Lillard Park. There was uncertainty about which Hadley it had been named for in 1912.
- The Bluebird Cafe is the latest venue returning to live performances for the first time since the pandemic began.
- The sale of the EXIT/IN property has been finalized according to property records, going for $6.5 million.
- Some hospitality workers are disputing the claimed worker “shortage,” saying that low pay and benefits are not enough to justify filling those roles versus other opportunities.
