- Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day! There are events around town to mark the civil rights leader’s birthday.

- A Nashville legislator is proposing a two-year ban on any person convicted of felony animal abuse from owning a pet. Tennessee was the first state to maintain an animal abuser registry.
- The Women’s March Tennessee group shifted its efforts to the area’s rural communities this year, opting for smaller gatherings closer to folks who would normally not drive to Nashville for such an event.
- The Tennessee Titans weren’t able to get by the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game, losing 24-35. The Chiefs will go on to play the San Fransisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV.
