• A Davidson County Sheriff’s Deputy was docked eight hours of vacation time for accidentally releasing a murder suspect from custody, who later surrendered to the police.
• A water rate increase is coming, with many households expected to see as much as $9.10 increase in their bill because of the city’s strategy of borrowing funds from the water service pay other bills. ?
• Former President Jimmy Carter fell at his home Sunday and sustained a black eye, but attended the kickoff event Sunday night for the Habitat for Humanity project that aims to build 21 homes in Nashville this week.
• The Nashville Scene has the story of a songwriter who also is an accomplished baker to kick of a series about Nashville’s most interesting personalities.
• The sheep nicknamed “Belle-Ewe” has been found safe by Metro Parks employees in Percy Warner Park, ending several weeks of searching and a Facebook group created to report sightings of the wayward farm animal.
• A parking deal  already declared unworkable by new mayor John Cooper has also been defeated in court, with a judge ordering the company and the city to start the process over again. The $34 million in an upfront payment was important to balance the city’s budget for the year.
• Dale Earnhardt Jr. added his voice to the list of NASCAR personalities that want to see the association’s races return to the Fair Grounds Nashville Speedway. The property is under development for the Major League Soccer stadium expected to open in 2022. ?
• CMT will air a show called “Nashville Squares” (an homage to the old gameshow “Hollywood Squares”) hosted by comedian Bob Saget and featuring several country music personalities like Tanya Tucker along with others, like Dennis Quaid.
• Publix has confirmed they will be developing a new store on Gallatin Avenue, fulfilling a wish-list item of many East Nashville residents for several years. The company opened their Capitol View store last week.
• The Nashville Software School took an in-depth look at Nashville’s use of dock-less scooters as part of a data science class. ?
• The Tennessee Titans (2-3) lost a 14-7 game at home to the Buffalo Bills (4-1), with some head-scratching coaching decisions and an 0-4 performance by the kicker. The Titans travel to Denver next Sunday to face the Broncos (1-4) next Sunday.
• The Nashville Predators (1-1) opened their season with a 5-2 win over the Minnesota Wild (0-2) on opening night at Bridgestone Arena followed by a 5-3 loss at home to the Detroit Red Wings (1-0) on Saturday. The Predators host the San Jose Sharks (0-3) tomorrow night.
• The team also put a pedal tavern on the ice during intermission at both games, so we’re not exactly sure to chalk that up as a win or a big loss for the city of Nashville. Can’t escape the “Wooooooo.”
• Tickets to Bridgestone events have picked up an added layer of security to prevent invalid tickets being sold by scalpers, where the barcode on the ticket rotates on a mobile phone rather than a screenshot. Tickets must be transferred through the app when sold or given away.
